Sunrise Squares

Serving Size: 6-8 squares

Ingredients:

1 pound ground sausage

6 slices of French bread, cut into 1″ cubes

3/4 cup diced red and green peppers

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese

6 large eggs

1 1/2 cup milk

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 dry mustard

1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9″x13″ baking dish
  2. Crumble and cook sausage until brown
  3. Drain any remaining grease
  4. In the baking dish, spread the bread cubes. Layer on the sausage, diced peppers, and cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard until well blended.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the bread layers in the greased dish.
  7. Bake 30-35 minutes on 350°F or until the egg is set.
  8. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.

Notes: You can switch out the ground sausage for your protein of choice.
